Need for Speed™ Underground 2 Strategy

Welcome to the Strategy Section for Need for Speed Underground 2. Here you'll be able to find tips and strategies to help make you the ultimate underground racer.

Circuit Racing Tips:
Be sure to save some of your NOS for your final lap. This will ensure you have that final boost if you need it.

Look for shortcuts, but don’t always use them! In some races, ‘shortcuts’ are actually longer, or have sharper turns requiring you to lose speed! -- Submitted by StirFriedEmu

When you’re racing in circuit, you will often have to turn your car. But remember, that when your front wheels are not straight, your car can’t really accelerate. So make your turns quick to get you car at the top speed. Do you feel like having only one real challenger? Then make his car crash (to the traffic or corner). It's better to do this in the beginning of the race to make sure it will never come back. -- Submitted by Knysliux001

Sprint Racing Tips:
On Sprint races be sure to stay close to the turns and stay away from traffic that could cost you the game. Also, don’t be afraid to spin the computer out from the back. -- Submitted by Speed King 613

This will work in any race that allows NOS. Right before the start of the race, during the countdown, tap the NOS button. This will give you some style points thus refueling your NOS and giving a little extra. It's not a lot but it's something to get off the line with.-- Submitted by KjLeX

Drag Racing Tips:
When in a drag race against AI, watch their movements during the race if they are ahead of you. They will be more aware of upcoming obstacles and traffic.

If you're first during the drag race and enemy is right behind you, he will surely want to get ahead of you. To avoid this, you should often look behind and if enemy try to change the line, quickly drive on the same line.

If you can't finish a drag race, because you blow your engine, try to change Final Drive Ratio scrollbar nearer Top Speed. (Performance Tuning -> Tune settings -> Drivetrain)-- Submitted by Deimos37PL

When drag racing on the PC, try using a steering wheel or joystick, anything that'll get you analog control of the throttle. That way, it's easier to get perfect shifts right on 1st, then 2nd gear, which helps dramatically in getting the early lead and hopefully, winning the race.-- Submitted by Pawelgawel7

Many of you already had the problem of blown engine because of using nitro. If you are in the 4th level of transmission (I don't know the exact word for this, sry) do a short shift so the arrow comes low in the 5th level, now you can use nitro before blowing up your engine and you're still going fast. -- Submitted by Hurricane

Later in the game, on the longer courses, you will need a car with a 6-speed gearbox to avoid blowing your engine. -- Submitted by TheCrees

In one of the drag races in the second sponsor level, there are a lot of traffic cars which makes it almost impossible to finish. Just do it slowly, the other cars will get totaled and you can just slowly do it and dodge the traffic.-- Submitted by Nfsfrk4

When you are racing in quick race or multiplayer online, after unlocking all the peformance upgrades, the best way to win a race is to stay behind the first opponent and try to be very close to him. in that way, you are earning Style points which will be an extra nitros to your car. through the race, in about 1/2 to 3/4 to the finishing line, tab the nitros or keep pressing the nitros button which will last longer. -- Submitted by (YousifDanno "StreetRacer8705")

To win easily in drag races in career mode, buy any SUV and use them against cars. The computer-controlled cars will try to even the fight but they will be much slower than your SUV. Just don't try racing in the train yard or you'll be totalled everytime. -- Submitted by SNARKMETACORTEX

Whenever you start a race, use nitrous to accelerate faster and race up the gears. However, on long races you might start to get a blown engine. If the red meter starts to rise, quickly release the accelerator and then hold it again. The meter will fall slowly, and if it rises again repeat that technique. -- Submitted by choozbuzz

Drift Racing Tips:
Choosing the right car is essential when preparing for a Drift race. All wheel, rear wheel and front wheel drive cars all perform differently.

If you can control your car exceptionally well, then go tune it to have the front moderately "loose" or so that it loses traction easy, and the rear as "loose" as you can get it, if you experiment with what works best one your car via the test track then you will have a car that drifts easy, yet still controllable, another thing is to use handbrake sparingly due to the fact that it burns too much momentum and speed, reducing chances of chaining it. -- Submitted by BahamutFang89

If you have a rear wheel drive car with lots of power, sit on about 30 to 40 km then gas it as soon as you turn this is more effective then pressing the handbrake but if you want to keep it going just zig zag. I find this more effective with an Audi TT with all level one upgrades or higher. If you do have higher performance then you may find it hard to finish in time but the scoring is taken care of. -- Submitted by Vintagebikes

When you see you're about to lose control of your car and going to hit a wall or traffic cars, push the brake/reverse trigger and the hand-brake at same time and hold'em until you see the points go in the bank. Usually, you'll get the points before the car completely stops or hits the wall!-- Submitted by Ivalleres

On open course drifts that have turn-around driveways, you can see these on your map as a separate road that goes off the main road and reconnects. Take the driveway and slide around and back onto main road for "Insane" drift points, 60,000+. -- Submitted by ts7170

In drifting, try to cross the finish line last. If you cross first than you are giving the other guys extra time to get drift points so you could lose the race even if you have more points. -- Submitted by cwsly

It's pretty difficult to pull off, but on straight parts on a Drift course, turn side ways and block the opponent. They will ram you and push you down the course. While they do this, you will be drifting. -- Submitted by qingwei999

If you ever participate in a downhill drift (look around Jackson Heights), try to find an area that goes right in front of a house (they usually look muddy or sandy) and drift through it. It counts as a bonus zone, and since you are driving straight through it, you can rack up points big style!-- Submitted by Deano_the_Dino

In Drift it's vital when you're going into the turn to turn towards the turn as hard as you can and when you're moving towards the wall to to turn towards the turn. I.E if you're turning towards the right turn the wheels right. This'll cause the car to stop travelling towards the wall really fast. This system is used in Rally driving and is Called opposite lock. -- Submitted by Heshan

Street X Tips:
A tip for racing on Street X is to make sure that you hit the other cars out of the way. Hit them as though you are playing dodge 'ems, and hit the back corners of their cars and launch them into a spin.-- Submitted by Alexander

You can either hit them out of they way, by hitting their back corners (aka the P.I.T. maneuver) or you can try to take the inside corner of every turn. This gets you around the course faster, and also prevents the opponents from trying to spin you.-- Submitted by Yoshi1234

In order to have great performances in Street X racing, just tune your gear ratios for acceleration, therefore you have to concentrate all your transmission on acceleration. Therefore, all the bars have to been set for optimum acceleration, cause you need no top speed for Street X. -- Submitted by SchuMito

When racing in Street X , keep your hands off the handbrake instead using regular brakes. Handbrakes bring down the speed to a dangerously low level immediately and can also throw you in a spin, whereas regular brakes gradually decrease the speed. Use handbrakes(if at all) at the exact beginning of the turn. If you are late in turning do not use handbrakes. Use of regular brakes does not ensure lead. It has to be properly followed by acceleration. While turning from the first corner of the turn to the last one, press the accl. key and regular brakes key alternately and rapidly. Do not let the speed drop below 45 mph (40 mph max.) at any point of time during the race. Stay away from the car conflicts between AI cars. -- Submitted by coldfire88

When turning U corners (or if you car has bad handling) in Street X, hang on the outside edge. That way, you have a larger, lengthier area to turn in without crashing into a wall or losing speed. Also, if you are neck in neck with an opponant, get to a turn and force them into the corner of the wall. That way, they ram into the wall and you pass them. -- Submitted by qingwei999

URL Racing Tips:
When you're racing a URL race, make sure you fill the N2O as much as you can via: Drafting, Fastest lap, Leading lap and Power slides, but don't overdo it with the powerslides. NOS can help you to get in first, creating and maintaining a gap. Depending on the opponent's strength, you can get a gap from 3 or 4 seconds and if you're lucky, even 12 seconds. -- Submitted by Jeroen

When starting at the back, rev as high as possible to get a good burnout score. Then, draft until you reach between 500 and 900 points this should give you enough NOS for the next two laps if used sparingly i.e. on the exit of the apex of turns for acceleration and long straights.-- Submitted by adam

In some URL races, for a sharp turn after a long straight-away, it is best not to brake, but to simply let the wall take you around the turn. This way you can keep going about 120mph often (depending on the speed you had when you entered) instead of slowing down to as little as ~80-90mph. -- Submitted by SuperD

On a few airport races, there will be a double sharp turn, but the corners of the turns are rounded. Get close to the wall and ride it around while your competition uses their brakes and carefully slides around. You'll fly right past them. -- Submitted by choozbuzz

When doing turns, never brake. Just let go of the acceleration quite away from the turn, and let your momentum bring you around. That way, you still have enough inertia to not need to start accelerating from 0 . Also, at the beginning, when the numbers are counting down, just hold it down. Unlike reality, this will actually make you accelerate faster, and will also give you burnout points to your N2O. -- Submitted by qingwei999

Outrun Racing Tips:
To beat an opponent the fastest, come up on him at near top speed and, right when you get near him, press the button to start the outrun. He will flip over your car or be hit to the side and you will win in seconds. -- Submitted by Gearhed09

A tip when racing outrun races is to do it on the highway. It makes things a lot easier and don't accept the race until your right up on them so you can spin them out first thing and almost always win within ten to twenty seconds as opposed to two or three minutes. This will not always work but does most of the time, works like a charm for levels 1&2. -- Submitted by Butterfli1109

If you are far enough ahead of your opponent and on the motorway, turn a hairpin into an off ramp and your opponent will overshoot it and take a long time to recover.-- Submitted by Zkhnry

When racing in Outrun mode get as close as you can before challenging them. Then challenge them and press the nos and try to ram the side of your opponent causing them to lose control and crash. Another tip is when racing try to go towards a place where you can make a u-turn, if you do it right then you will get a big lead while they try to turn around. -- Submitted by Daazninvazn5

There are two good ways to easily win an Outrun. The first is to come up behind the opponent and do what is called a PIT Manoeuvre. To do this you must go to the side of your opponent and with the front of your car lean sideways into the back of their car. If done correctly then their car should spin round but remember to press up to start the outrun just before they spin because this will make then stop and they take ages to turn round. The second way is to drive through to 5 fountains in the City Core. It takes a lot of practice to do it but when learnt you will be able to do it with ease and your opponent will always crash trying to follow you. -- Submitted by No1Hall2

If you are enough ahead of your opponent, use shortcuts. Opponent may not use shortcut, but he can use it and he will crash on it. -- Submitted by Migboy

To load up NOS real quick, drive backwards until you hit max RPM and then steer hard left or hard right. This will let you do a J-turn for a massive 500 points! This is easiest on the highway, if you start out facing the oncoming traffic, but parking lots work well too.

For some nasty Outrun action, allow your opponent to close in behind you, as you approach an off ramp of the highway. Try to push him into the concrete at top of the junction, where the roads split. If this works - he'll be standing still and you'll be rocketing away to victory. If this doesn't work, you'll spin around; grab your handbrake to control the spin, and shoot NOS to chase after your opponent; he'll be slowed down enough to let you draft from his rear. try to push him into a spin while he's still figuring out what happened. -- Submitted by Increddibelly

If you have the lead and cannot seem to lose your opponent, head towards the Fountains at the City Center and weave through them. Your opponent is most likely to crash into the fountains. Easier done using a small car, e.g. A3 or 206 because of their size. Or using an SUV, due to their "lack of Speed". Practice makes perfect. -- Submitted by Mak

So, you've found yourself on the touge (Japanese for mountain, I'm talking about Jackson Heights) up against a guy (or girl) in a Skyline and can't shake them? Gain the lead and then lead them downhill toward Beacon Hill. Unless you can just flat out outperform them, keep them relatively close, I mean within 100 feet behind you. Stay in the uphill lane (westbound lane whether you're going with or against traffic) and at the last possible second cut across the road and take the exit to Beacon. 9 times out or 10 they can't shadow you well enough and either keep going down the road or try to make the turn and plow into the barrier. If you have a fully modded R34 Skyline, shame on you for having to use this tip and be deceiving.

At the start of the outrun, be on guard for your moronic opponent to blast the nitrous and slam into a wall, somehow miraculously turn around and take off the other way while you swear you sohuld be in the lead. Theres something really screwy about the computer's judgement of how one gains or retains the lead. -- Submitted by GPkreep79350

While thinking of doing an Outrun, drive very fast and then hit your oppenent in the back and accept the challenge. By doing this he will crash and you can go ahead fast and win the race. -- Submitted by aJ

When you're in an Outrun race, try to hit the rear side fender of the opposing car, this can cause it to go in a spin. But if it refuses to do so then apply the same trick again but this time press your nitrous after you hit its rear side fender, then it'll surely go it a spin. It may take him some time to get his car into control and gain speed, but it won't take him that much time to realize that you have left him in your dust a thousand meters away. -- Submitted by Yousuf

To win quickly and without much effort on your part, use this clever tactic. First, you must gain control of the lead and then, lure your prey to Beacon Hill West and go to the Car Specialties Shop there (you must be coming from the Jackson Heights direction). You must have considerable gap between your opponent before you enter the driveway or else you will lose the lead if it passes you by. Stay put near the shop and don't venture out until the A.I. car goes haywire and drives farther away from you. The computer-controlled cars can't follow you inside there and therefore they have to find another way to get near you but unfortunately all roads just lead them further away.-- Submitted by SNARKMETACORTEX

If you are losing put your front side wheel against his back so that you are making contact with him. Then turn into him and he should lose control and crash to the side. -- Submitted by Slattman

To win an Outrun race easily, go to the top of Jackson Heights and go into what I call the parking lot. It is a rectangle on your map at the top of Jackson Heights. What you do is turn into the parking lot and speed through it. What should happen is the opponent runs into the wall of the passage way and don’t reverse and get into the parking lot in time to at least still be in the race.-- Submitted suprmn1366

I have found three places where you can usually lose a Street Reaper during an Outrun and improve your chances for getting "Unique" upgrades for your car. 1) Head for the ramps just south of the Body Shop on the west side of City Center. Go up the ramp and head south. The Street Reaper will get confused most of the time at the top of the ramps long enough for you to win the Outrun before you get to the Car Lot. This seems to work best if the Street Reaper is not too far away when you go up the ramp.

2) Head for the access to the Highway between City Centre and the Airport. If you are coming from the city, turn left into the oncoming traffic ramp to head north on the Highway. If you are coming from the Airport, turn left into the oncoming traffic ramp to head south on the Highway. In most cases the Street Reaper will overshoot the turn and take too long to get back on track as you speed away to an Outrun victory.

3) Head for the east entrance to the tunnel that takes you from the east side of the City Centre to the west side. Enter into the oncoming traffic lane. Stay in the oncoming lanes until you can make a quick right turn into the tunnel that takes you to Beacon Hills. The Street Reaper will usually overshoot the turn and sit there puzzled long enough for an Outrun victory. -- Submitted by ecnarFJL Winning outruns gives you opportunities to get special or unique upgrades for your car. You have to win a certain number in order to do this. Upgrades ranges from visual (vinyls), performance (you choose between a few but can’t really tell how that affects your vehicle) and body parts (spoiler). I haven’t figured out whether there are a limited number of these upgrades for the whole game or per stage. Make sure you are using the car you want upgraded! -- Submitted by jhunts5

When doing an Outrun, if you can get ahead to about 500 meters do a 180 turn and drive towards the other racer. If done right, you will shoot straight past him and it will take him ages to turn around. -- Submitted by MadMan199207

When you challenge someone to an Outrun, make sure you are on Route 27 East. Get in front of your opponent and stay on the highway. When an exit comes, don’t get off but rub against the side of the exit wall on the highway. There is a 99% chance that your opponent will get off the exit and onto a ramp that will take him nowhere. It works best at the Beacon Hill Heights exit, but remember to stay on the highway.-- Submitted by jlive13

First off, you should do all Outruns on a highway that loops around like a track. Next, when you start the Outrun, try to spin the opponent out. Then, keep going until you reach an exit and take it. Now you want to basically pop a U-turn like the exits were just a big hairpin and if you are lucky, the other car should get hung up in the exit allowing you to take his/her bank and possibly a unique part.-- Submitted by raptorwraith

General Strategies:
To refill your Nitrous Bottle do donuts(you will get 400 pts each donut). Also you can use your hydraulics to gain pts. -- Submitted by Gearhed09

In career mode if you have no races to compete in on the world map, then go to the shops (body, paint/vinyl) and add more customization pars to raise your visual rating. Increasing your visual rating will unlock new races. -- Submitted by rsirinek When you're creating a sweet ride in the Career mode think of 1 thing: Performance is your TOP priority. So make sure that you first upgrade the performance of your car before you empty your BANK on Spoilers and Rims. -- Submitted by Jeroen

All opponents start with similar performance mods to yourself. If you can’t win a race, go to the garage and downgrade, or even remove, all the mods. This gives you a lot more options. If you’re entering a drag race, pick the car with the best acceleration and top speed – with no mods, will give you an edge over your opponents. Similarly, pick the car with the best handling for Street X races. -- Submitted by StirFriedEmu

Hydraulics aren't just there for show, they play a massive role in achieving head starts. When in a Circuit, Sprint or U.R.L race, (during the count down) press the hydraulics bounce button and accelerate at the same time. This will cause your car to start bouncing from the front, and when the race begins, hit the nitrous and if your timing is right then you could go into a serious wheely and you'll have a BIG head start. I dont know that this strategy will work on PS2 cause I dont have one,i have a PC,but I'm sure that it'll work on PS2. -- Submitted by Yousuf

When driving in any race(except Drag) and you are at top speed and about to drive into a sharp corner, instead of using a wall to turn, use the car you are competing against, or a car on the road to turn your car around. That way, you make your opponent's car crash and you go through the turn smoothly, except for the part where you slide against your opponent's car. -- Submitted by Hue537

Usually, completing any races chosen straight from the world map prevent you from gaining any points or cash, however, in career mode, choose races to compete in on the world map, then select the one to run. 2 -3 seconds into the race, escape and restart the race, prompting you to lose all race details so far - that's o.k. After completing the race, go back to explore mode, not garage, thus ensuring you have extra bank. -- Submitted by O.Z.

If you want to spin your car by 180 degrees then with some speed hold the spacebar(speedbrake) with no acceleration press left or right. -- Submitted by Ritk

Always keep your eyes open for races that do not appear on the map. Don't ignore them, because they are usually shorter and have considerably more bank than those on the map. You'll find all kinds of races in them except U.R.L races. Have fun earning more bank! -- Submitted by Yousuf

To find hidden shops, look for colored street signs. Green squares are body shops. Red triangles are graphic shops. Light blue circles are car lots. Dark blue squares are performance shops. And yellow triangles and squares are car speciality shops. -- Submitted by tanman 369

Try using street smarts; run on the 4th lane, When you get to an exit, take it. Go under the overpass and back onto the 4th lane. Make sure there is a divider on the 4th lane and your opponent is well behind or you could lose the lead. -- Submitted by Rhibbs

Make sure you have a full nitro bar + overflow, then head up to the highway ring around the city centre. To win in under 20 seconds, spin around the opponent, then, when they are at 90 degrees to your car, accept their challenge, and blast away using your nitro. This is very easy + does work very well. However, it can be tricky to press up in time before they right themselves, so be aware! -- Submitted by LizardBoy 693

How to do a wheelie- You will first need a rear-wheel drive car with at least all Level Two performance upgrades and Level Three hydraulics. Go to Free-Run, and find a wide open flat area with no traffic. Raise the rear end of your car and then make the front end jump repeatedly. Then, put the car in Neutral (N) and hold down the gas. When the front end is in the air, put the car in gear and hold down the Nitrous. You car should do a sustained wheelie for about a whole second.-- Submitted by esserc18

In Circuit, Sprint and URL modes, change your steering to use the directional pad. When you come to a turn, just tap the direction. It saves precious speed and it gets the turn (most of the time). I use it and I always get my opponents at least fifteen away from me. -- Submitted by Haden

Multiplayer/Online Strategies:
When the light turns green stay somewhat behind the group and when someone crashes thats your chance to pass if the don't crash or mess up. Take the corners well and and keep the petal on the floor. -- Submitted by richlindec

When you unlock N.O.S only squirt it don't hold it down. This will make it last way longer. Also although the Skyline is best in stats it will spinout for no reason in a straight line. When racing Melissa at the end use the Lancer and over brake instead of grinding the wall a bit. This will seem slower but reward you in the overall race. Put everything you want on your car before winning as well because you can't go back and customize it afterwards. Also if you find you don't like a cars handling when driving put a suspension package on it. This won't necesarily put stats up heaps but it will feel completely different.-- Submitted by Vintagebikes

The best order to race in is Outruns, followed by non-URL events and finish up with URLs. This enables you to max. your star rating and earn maximum cash from the DVD and Magazine covers.-- Submitted by TheCrees

Nitrous Extender: To extend your nitrous during any kind of race (except outruns) go to your garage in career mode and go to performance/dyno run and go to tune settings and go to nitrous. While you are there push right on the directional pad and depending on the level of nitrous it will extend. If you are trying to do it with the cars on your main menu do the same thing except there is no garage but, go to performance and dyno and do the same thing. -- Submitted by Stinkayugioh

This isn't neccesarily a tip, but it does look cool. If you want a two wheeled start to a race (i.e. your car jumps up on its rear wheels as it accelerates off the start line), first you'll need Level 3 hydraulics. When you get to the start line, get your car bouncing off its front wheels, then rev your car to max (you may need to double tap the accelerator in order to negate the hydraulics). When the race starts, your car should perform a wheelie, which pretty rad to watch and gives better acceleration off the line if done right, as there's less friction between the car and the road.. You'll also get a meaty burnout bonus for it. Note: this works better with some cars than others, the best being longer muscle cars like the Mustang or Supra. Shorter cars e.g. the 106 are less effective. I don't advise doing this with SUVs or a car with a wide body kit either, they tend to go all over the place. -- Submitted by Reaper0880

Sometimes nitrous can help you to quickly get over a turn. To do this, you should have rear wheel drive car like RX-7 or MX-5. When you're about to encounter a hard turn, then reduce your speed according to the turn you're about to make, then lift your finger off the acceleration button. When you approach the apex of the turn, then accelerate and hit your nitrous at the same time. Doing this, you combine your acceleration and the nitrous boost to create one big boost which enables you to quickly get over your turn. -- Submitted by Yousuf

Whenever you're sandwiched between two opponants in a race, NEVER accelerate. If you do, one will turn in and fish-tail you. When you are sandwiched between two opponants, ease up on the throttle until you're behind them. Draft, then go past them right when you get the chance. -- Submitted by qingwei999

Car Customization Tips:
In order to improve the visual rating of your car, start with body, graphics, then accessories. This will increase your visual rating faster.

To get a higher visual rating without altering your body design, simply just use the same vinyl for all 4 layers. Or give the last 3 layers same color as the body of the car. -- Submitted by Tokan4

First of all, Dyno = real tuning. If you want to squeeze the most performance out of your ride, you should spend some time fine-tuning it. In Circuit/Sprint mode, I suggest playing with the ECU to gain precious Power and Torque at relatively medium RPM's. I strongly suggest more power at about 4850 RPM and in the Transmission area, focus more on acceleration than on top speed, as there are rarely races that are driven in straight lines or in the Highway, for you to rely mainly on top speed. Use this tuning tip if you plan to race on tracks that have a wide range of curves, because when you enter a bend, you (should) slow down and when you are in the apex of that curve you need more power to take your engine back to optimal speed again. (In a turn you usual race at about 4500-4800 RPM so here is where you need the extra power without having to use the NOS).

Moreover, after you make a turn, and you still are in the apex, you could use a short boost from your NOS to help you gear up, as you usually lose at least one gear when braking for a turn.

Once you have a Spoiler on your car, you should be aware that it isn't there just for the looks. It has a valuable importance in stability at high speed. In Dyno tuning mode, I suggest setting the Downforce both for front and rear to a equal value and as high as possible. This is useful during high speed races. People like to see the caption of their car while "lifting-off" a hill or bend, but that means that the wheels loose contact with the race track and also valuable speed, and grip. try to keep your car stuck to the track at all times for maximum performance.

For Circuit/Sprint races. Use your NOS while going down a road, rather than up. That way you combine the geometry of the track and the boost of you NOS to maximize speed bursts. Never try this if you have a tight turn right at the bottom of the run, as this will always send you directly into the scenery because your brakes just won't stop you, or if you plan to use the hand-brake, it's a guaranteed useless power slide that usually ends with a tet-a-que (uncontrollable 360 spin)-- Submitted by Tatusca

Always be careful when putting carbon-fiber body parts on your cars first, come of them will drop your star rating. Install regular body parts first, like mirrors, hood scoops and hoods, then go to the carbon-fiber and see if it effects your star rating. Also always scroll through every body part to make sure that the ones at the bottom are not worth more points then the others! Have fun customizing. -- Submitted by Davedblak

When the stage of new rims is reached buy them because this is also the stage when 3-star rating is needed to be put on a DVD cover. If you buy new rims your rating will be boosted dramatically! :) P.S. I am not referring to the rims available when you first start the game, but the next level of rims. -- Submitted by Bigwillnfsu

When you try to install a unique vinyl with other ordinary vinyls like hood vinyls they disappear but there is one way to do it. First if you want your ordinary vinyls on top of your unique you must use the last 3 slots but if you want it under then use the first 3 slots.Install your ordinary vinyls where you want them to be but only use 3 slots or it wont work.Once your happy exit the shop or garage and save the game.Go back inside and on the slot you left blank put in your unique vinyl.Your ordinary vinyls will disappear but don't worry. Now go to paint the base of your car move around but don't re-spray your car then press b to escape the re-spray menu and your ordinary vinyls will appear back with your unique !! I haven't tried yet but i think its possible to have 2 uniques by using this method. -- Submitted by nightwolfbaz

In Car Customizing, when you have the Split Hoods, you can get a glitch in the way the hoods open. To get it to work, go to the split hood selection, find a hood you want to glitch, scroll up or down 2 hoods, go back to the hood you choose, and press the open hood button and scroll up or down one hood at the same time. If you time it right the hood you scrolled on to will open the same way as the hood you were on, but it will be a different hood. This is just for fun and it does not stay when you select the hood for your car. It will go back to normal. It also goes back to normal if you press the open/close hood button again to close it. -- Submitted by SirChansealot

Jumping Hydraulics
First you will need a car with Level 2 hydraulics. Next go into the Explore Mode and stop a car in the middle of the road preferably a flat road by driving in front of it. Now face that cars front or back it does not matter, get as close as you can to it almost as though you are touching it. Hold R1 and press either Up and Down or Left and Right with the left analog stick. Do not do it fast, but at a normal pace or slow. After you do this, the car will jump between 20 and 100 feet in the air depending on how good you do it you will also get at least a hang time of 250 and you will get a large boost of nitrous oxide. Have patience, you might not get it on the first try. For example, your car may only do a little jump the first time you try it, but keep at it and eventually you will get the big one. -- Submitted by Pacersnba731

When dyno testing your car, go to tune up. Now go to the ECU option and move to the last RPM number for the car (9000-10000rmp). Begin to lower the blue bars all the way down as far as they go. Start at 10,000rpm and then make your way down to 1,000. When your done, everything below 4,000rpm should be as far down as possible, but everything above, should be at their highest level. Now go do the same to your TURBO option. When complete, dyno test it again. Your HORSE POWER and TORQUE should be higher then it was when you first tested it. -- Submitted by Boadas2000

This'll save you a few bank and increase your stars. I never saw much point in customizing the trunk, but you gotta to get a 10-star car it seems. So, only buy one of everything you want in your trunk. Leave the store, outside the store (even right in the yellow designator circles), hit Start/Jump to Garage. Go to Change Parts/Specialties/Trunk and in your empty trunk slots, browse through your collection and find the speakers, NOS bottles, Amps, or LCDs you want, and install them. You basically get 2 (or more) for the price of one. -- Submitted by GPkreep79350
